Therefore is true. For two weeks, on Skipper sailing course, you will sail, practice, study theory and passing exams, take charge and skipper the boat. Learn seamanship techniques: including sail handling, anchoring, mooring and much more.

Real time work on navigation. Will build confidence during pilotage. During this time we visit many different Ionian Islands and build necessary mileage, before your practical exam.

At the end of sailing course, you will become an independent sailor with an International Certificate.

Graduates, who successfully completed the sailing course are awarded the Skipper certificate.

Afterward in bonus, they can apply for the International Certificate of Competence (ICC), this is an internationally recognized qualification.

Living Aboard

You book a separate double cabin and share a common space with other participants. Candidates throughout the course will live aboard a yacht.

During which, we will go to different ports and anchorage in the Ionian Islands. Where we will work out various mooring techniques. And during transitions, pilot skills.

You can cook on the yacht. For this there is everything you need. As well as visiting tavernas on the islands. There are several showers and toilets on the boat, so you are independent from the coast.

You can book a boat privet, if you want to learn with friends or family.

Theoretical Course

Designed for 80 hours, which will allow us to study, navigation, sailing, meteorology and safety rules.

5 days at sea, 100 miles, 4 night sailings. We will learn to turn the theoretical knowledge we have accumulated, into practice.

Skipper practical sailing course

Preparation for going to sea.
Preparation of the yacht for departure; engine check, selection of suitable sails, reliable placement of all things both on and under the deck.

Deck work.
Sailing, preparation of anchor and mooring ropes. Mooring, selection of a buoy, anchoring, raising the anchor and departure from the pontoon pier.

Navigation.
Routine navigation duties. Visual landmarks and mapping them. The use of electronics to determine the position. Use of electronic waypoints. Knowledge of the IALA system. Maintaining navigation records. Using the echo sounder.

Pilotage.
Use the pilot plan to enter or exit the harbor.

Meteorology.
Interpreting Weather Forecasts Using a barometer as an aid.

Traffic rules.

International rules for the prevention of collisions at sea.

Yacht handling under motor.
Delivery of the yacht to the pier and back and anchoring in various conditions of wind and tide.

Yacht handling under sail.
Yacht control in all sail positions.

Passage.
Planning and implementation of the coastal passage, taking into account all navigational hazards and restrictions imposed by the type of boat and crew.

Engine.
Inspection, replacement of water filters, fuel filters, impeller of the cooling pump, generator belt and pumping of the fuel system.

Provisioning.
The plan for supplying yacht with: food, water and fuel.

Booking

Using the form on the website, request the availability of the boat on the dates you require. Go to Book, fill out the booking form. After completing the application, we will check that the boat is available on the required date, and notify you final price and payment details. To complete the booking you will need to pay a Reservation Deposit in the amount of 30% of the total rental amount. We can reserve a boat for you, only for 7 days from the moment of sending the booking form and until the amount of the Reservation Deposit is received, after that, boat will be publicly available.

What’s next?

Upon receipt of the booking form and 30% Reservation Deposit, we will send you a payment confirmation and an invoice for the full amount. The balance must be paid 6 weeks before the start of the yacht charter. If you book less than 6 weeks before the start of the charter, full payment will be charged at the time of booking.

Paperwork

We undertake registration, of official documentation. With your data from the booking form, we will prepare the necessary documents and send you copies so that they will be signed by you and returned to us. This means that all documents can be issued before your arrival and you do not have to spend your vacation time on registration.

Restrictions

According to Greek law, it is not allowed to have more people on board the yacht than the number of places specified in the specification of the boat. All people on board must be on the crew list.

Qualification

For bareboat charter, it is necessary that one of the crew members has the appropriate qualifications for managing a boat. This should be an International Certificate of Competency (ICC) or equivalent recognized by the national governing body of your country. In case of bareboat charter, take yours original license in case the port administration wishes to see it. In case of skippered charter, all our skippers have the appropriate qualifications, just remember that they occupy one place on board.

Personal Insurance

We encourage you to use your personal holiday insurance, which will cover you for this type of activity.

Returnable Warranty Deposit

Yachts are fully insured under marine insurance against loss, damage and liability to third parties. However, in accordance with industry practice, we need a deposit. This is required in case of damage to the boat, loss of items or late return. At the end of the lease, the deposit will be returned to you, subject to any deductions, after inspection of the boat.

Warranty Deposit

If, you have bareboat charter, a guarantee deposit, amount depends on type of boat, will be charged on your credit card here in our office, and if everything, is in order at the end of your charter, it will be returned to you. Check amount on boat description. Also, the amount of deposit, will be indicated on your reservation, and can be paid either in cash or by credit card on the day your charter starts. Please note that a 2% fee is charged for any damage or fines paid by credit card on site.

Fuel

Upon arrival, your boat will have a full tank of fuel. Upon returning to the base, fuel will be refilled. This will show how much you have used, and you can pay this amount. You pay for diesel on your return, ensuring that you only pay for what you use. If you pay by credit card on site, a fee of 2% will be charged.

Transfer from airport

We will be happy to arrange a transfer for you, service are extra. Just let us know your arrival details and we will be able to meet you.

Reservation Deposit

Reservation deposit – 30% non-refundable deposit of the total cost of yacht charter, accompanied by a completed booking form.

Late Return

Late return of the boat will be charged a fine. Your boat will be ready by 4 pm on the day the charter begins and must be returned at 10 am on the end date.

Here are a few things you should pay attention to so that you have the best and most relaxing time on board.

About the Boat

There is an inverter on board, so you can charge your phones / tablets, etc. The stereo has a plug so you can connect your iPod or mp3 player to listen to music. Full inventory, at boats description.

Internet

We have a Wi-Fi Hub / Hotspot aboard. You can purchase prepaid internet from us. Please pre-book this service before you arrive. There are plenty of internet cafes on the islands, and some taverns now have free Wi-Fi networks that you can access for free. Good mobile coverage throughout the Ionian Sea, and 4G is widely available. If you are using a non-Greek SIM card, this can be expensive.

On board each boat, there is a guide, that will help you familiarize yourself with the boat. You will also receive instructions on arrival at the boat, from us personally.

Provisions

A basic on-board grocery set (tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper, olive oil, water, cleaning products, garbage bags and toilet paper) awaits you. If you want to quickly leave our base, we will be happy to provide you with an expanded grocery set; Just send us a list in advance and your budget! Otherwise, opposite the waterfront there is a small supermarket, next to a pharmacy and a bakery down the road. If you have any special dietary requirements, we can also help and purchase gluten free products, soy milk, etc. The water tanks, of course, will be full, and you can return with them empty. However, if you are staying for a week or more on a yacht, you will need to refill them yourself.

All bed linen and towels will be provided to you, but you can take along beach towels.

General Information

We advise you to wear hats and sunglasses, also use sunscreen and use mosquito repellent in the evenings. If you are sailing at the end of the summer season, then bring light trousers, a jumper and a jacket, as the evenings can be cool and the probability of rain is higher.

It is better to travel with “soft” bags so that they can be easily stored after unpacking. However, if you only have hard suitcases, then we will be happy to store them on the beach for you.
