New cruising tax in Greece, called “Tax on Wind”

Cruising tax in Greece, once again and again postponed, is now the deadline for payments, related to yachts in the territorial waters of Greece, Saturday, May 18, 2019.

To register and receive an electronic payment code, go to the site www1.aade. In the right page section, click, change to English. Register on the site using the blue button, “Register” under “Log in for eTEPAI users”.
Once registration is complete, select the “Log in for eTEPAI users”
Option, enter and start the payment process. After completing your application and receiving a 20-digit payment code, you can make a payment in one of the following ways.

Payment in Greece

1) At the bank, or by post office, by credit card or cash

2) At the local customs offices. For yachts that are, not under the EU flag, do not need to register, the whole procedure is in place.

3) At the offices of the Port Authority, when registration for eTEPAI, is not possible.

Payment from abroad

1) With bank transfer Euro SEPA

2) If the payer, is located in a country outside the area SEPA, he can pay through SWIFT EUR

Note for cruising tax

1) Yacht owners, who boat out of water, should not do anything until the yacht is back into water.

2) If yachts in the water, and the owners declared the immobility, after passing the “Transit Log” to Customs offices (non-EU flags), or “DEKPA” to the port police (EU flags), there is no need to take action, until they decide to cancel the immobility.

3) Owners, who yachts, are in the water, and have not declared immobility, but are not in Greece, may pay the tax in the manner described above, or declare the lack of movement of the yacht.

The tax is paid monthly. Payment is made for all month, even if you enter Greece for 3 days. Entry into Greek waters on July 28, and departure on August 2, tax payment, is for a period of two months. Payment is allowed in advance and for several months. Experts say that yacht tourism in Greece, will suffer greatly from the new tax. For most owners, only way to pay this tax, is to travel to Greece and pay, or put their vessels out of use.
