Corfu is the most northern and second largest Greek island in the Ionian Sea. Located in the shape of a sickle, with its concave side facing the coast of Albania and Greece.
Corfu is the European name of the island, and the Greeks call it Kerkyra (Κέρκυρα).
Ideal for novice crews, as well as for family yachting, since the weather conditions in the Ionian Sea are mild during the summer months. From April to October, in this area can expect warm weather without strong winds and a calm sea.
Flights to Corfu
The easiest way to get to Corfu is by plane. Direct flights from Russia and Israel are served from April to October.
The name of Corinth, are for two cities, the distance between them is just over three kilometers. First Corinth is an ancient city destroyed by an earthquake, which became an open-air museum, and the second, rebuilt recently, at the end of the 19th century.
In Corinth, the well-known Argonaut Jason, threw the beautiful Medea, who was distraught with grief and burned the city.
Near the city is located, the famous Corinth Canal from the Saronic Gulf (Aegean Sea) to the Corinth (Ionian Sea). Mention of the need for the channel is known from the seventh century BC. The building was hampered by the rich people of Corinth. Permission for the final construction of the canal was given by the government of post-revolutionary Greece.
Train to Corinth
From Athens airport, to Corinth can be reached by train, the travel time is 1 hour 30 minutes, the train leaves several times an hour.
